Gregory Ellis is a contemporary photographer from Albuquerque, New Mexico who specializes in street photography.
Ellis developed a knack for capturing the essence of life over 30 years ago. As a teenager, his mother gifted him a Kodak film camera which he used to capture, "The first photo that got my attention. It was this spectacular view of the Sandia mountains and Rio Grande River from the backyard of my mother’s home. Only about 5 images came out of a roll of Kodak 24 film. I tried obsessively for years to duplicate the image, which was impossible. This ignited my curiosity as to how I could effectively use this tool to give infinite life and visibility to my subject."
His photography communicates the emotional, complex, and chaotic nature of the human experience. The uniqueness of his artistic style is that it gently defies the rules of composition, as seen in his trademark close-up shots taken at unusual angles.
